Does the Department Provide any Assistance in Relocating?

A large part of the assistance the department provides to relocating graduates is an allowance for removalists to move and store your belongings so for me, coming from Melbourne, that involved removalists getting all my stuff, my bed, all the heavy sort of things, just anything I needed moving - put it in the truck. I didn’t have to worry about it until I got to Canberra. Found a house to live in, then carried it up the stairs when I needed it. The department paid for all of that. It’s great.

Finance is generous in not only do they offer relocation assistance, they also offer accommodation assistance for people who move from interstate. So what they do is they give you three weeks accommodation at a hotel as soon as you move to Canberra, so you have the time to look for suitable accommodation.
