Graduate Development Program

We have been recognised nationally as delivering leading opportunities for our graduates. We understand that for many of you this may be your first full time job, so we make sure we provide learning and development to support you.

Through the Program you will participate in 12 months of development activities, structured to equip you with the skills and knowledge to become a high quality Finance employee and underpin a future career within the Australian Public Service (APS).  There are also optional second year and third year programs.

The first part of the Program consists of learning and development related to working in Finance and the APS. The customised component will be developed between you and your supervisor in consultation with Learning and Development, and is tailored to meet your individual needs. The Program also includes networking sessions and key events such as a visit to Parliament House and a Leadership offsite.

The Program addresses four key areas:

Department of Finance and Deregulation’s Graduate Program Receives Australia-wide Recognition

The Department of Finance and Deregulation (Finance) was named as a finalist in the Australian Association of Graduate Employers(AAGE) Awards in 2010. The competition runs Australia and New Zealand wide and the Department was nominated for two awards – ‘Best Graduate Development Program’ and ‘Graduate Recruiter of the Year’.

Although the Department didn’t receive the top awards, receiving a final nomination was a huge success for Finance.

The AAGE is a non-profit body representing organisations that recruit and develop Australian and New Zealand graduates. Current membership of the AAGE consists of over 330 organisations from a wide range of industries in both the public and private sectors.
