Employment in Finance
Once you have joined the Career Starters’ Program you are a permanent employee of the Australian Public Service (APS).
Conditions
You will be engaged under the broadband classification of “Finance Career Starter”. Your terms and conditions are set out in the Department of Finance and Deregulation Enterprise Agreement 2011-2014.
Pay
Next year’s Career Starters will be employed at the APS 1 level with a starting salary of $40,994 per year, and have the opportunity to advance to the APS 2 level in October/November 2012. After that it is up to you!
Located in Canberra
Career Starters will be working in one of the Canberra offices of the Department located in Parkes, Barton, Fyshwick, Mitchell and Hume. Our main buildings are located in Parkes, within the Parliamentary Triangle.
Facilities and Social Activities
We provide a number of excellent facilities to our staff including:

- ATMs
- free parking
- a dry-cleaning service
We also run many social events throughout the year such as a movie night, ski trip, regular happy hours, a themed ball, multicultural festival, barbeques and a trivia night.
Finance staff are very keen on their sports and many participate in the annual golf day, lawn bowls, ten pin bowling, softball, soccer and rugby competitions.
